I just unfollowed about a dozen blogs and I feel great! I’ve been uninspired as of late and quite frankly, a little bored with what I’m seeing on the web. I feel like a lot of people are wearing the same things, saying the same things, and living the same lives, all of which is not for me. Of course there are still many blogs that I do follow but I’m in a moment of purging and I’m not stopping yet. Normally I justify the number and quality of the blogs I follow by saying that it’s research, because in order for me to blog effectively I need to be familiar with my community. There is, however, a point at which I cannot continue to read garbage. Sometimes I find myself reading posts then coming to realize how much time I’ve just wasted and that’s extremely embarrassing. What does this come down to? Your time belongs to you and you only, so when you find yourself upset at how you’re spending it, then change something!
My favorite way to get ready is by starting with one piece. And if it’s a great piece, that’s all you need. Something about the day drew me into wearing this white dress that I love so much. If you can believe it, I wear this dress year-round because it looks just as darling with flats and bare legs as it does with tights, boots, and a cardigan. During a recent trip home I grabbed my favorite oxfords and even though I consider them the anti-warm weather shoe, I decided to give them a try, and I rather like the result. Of course once I was dressed and out the door I realized that I resembled Jamie Beck a little bit. Of course I’d love to be wearing her actual outfit but this is certainly a start.
It was a great day at work and afterwards David and I met up with out friend Jess to grab dinner at V Note, which was amazing. Though it’s a vegan/organic/kosher restaurant it’s the kind of place that most people would enjoy, but of course for us it was perfect. Our walk over was nearly all the way across town and farther uptown than the apartment. I love public transportation, especially in NYC, however, you miss so much being underground and if the weather is just right…
