peter pan collars are so much fun, aren’t they? they’re equal parts gamine and whimsy, created a piece with a lot of attitude. when i saw this particular blouse i was inspired and excited by its possibilities it has. let’s be real, gray is gray (i.e. impossible to mess up) and the collar is BEJEWELED for goodness sake–how adorable is that? as a blouse/t-shirt hybrid it exudes an effortless yet styled vibe that can do nearly everything. pairing it with classic denim bottoms would be cool, clearly, but it’s kind of feisty when matched with neon leather and it’s insanely quirky when layered over a a striped jumper. i’d lean toward keeping the accessories neutral but really you could just shoot for the moon here. you could stack resin bangles, strut a pair of antique clip-ons, or grab a suede bag if you please! the only look that i would shy away from with this blouse is anything that’s too cutesy. this includes, but is not limited to, scalloped skirts, anything too tight, black cropped pants, etc… this may seem a little extreme or unnecessary but by now you know that i’m a fan of mixing looks and perhaps doing things a little differently.

have you ever had a piece of clothing that makes you feel… dandy? this dress, with it’s elegant eyelet, is flirty and ’60s inspired but very current. this is the way i’m inclined to style such a piece but i’m certainly looking forward to all of the fun things we can do! this is what i wore to my graduation rehearsal meeting where i got to listen to a lot of garbage fun things that will help me prepare for tomorrow’s ceremony. see you from the other side!

when my mom told me about the providence perfume co. i almost couldn’t believe it. well believe it. this place is simply amazing. from the moment we stepped it chanra, the shops owner and perfumer extraordinaire, was warm and welcoming. i poked around a bit at chanra’s natural perfume selection, however, what really intrigued me was the opportunity to create my own scent, which i aptly named “a midsummer night’s dream” because it remind me of the perfect june day. chanra was extremely kind in answering all of my questions but ultimately we created a fragrance that is all my own and feels perfect! i learned all about infused alcohols, base notes, middle notes, and top notes–how cool is that? now if i told you what was in my blend it wouldn’t be a surprise, but perhaps this is because i also can’t remember one of the ingredients… luckily chanra keeps a catalogue of her client’s mixtures just to be safe!
]]>now here is my favorite audrey film and understandably so! this film has everything– a plot that i’m a sucker for and simply stunning ensembles, like jo’s famous all black look. and the dancing! how could i forget the dancing! okay i need to leave now so i can go put on funny face…

when i was born in ’91 it was mother’s day and delta burke was the host of snl. quite a few years later here we are celebrating on the same special day but kristen wiig is hosting and we’re eating dinner at julian’s rather than at women and infants. it was special all around and i feel so lucky for all of the love in my life!

i came home this weekend as sunday is both mother’s day and my 22nd birthday. it’s hard for me to believe the i turned 21 a whole year ago. i was so excited about this despite not knowing what the last 12 months would entail. well, it was fantastic and everything that i could have hoped for. though i never feel quite different when i wake up each may 12th there’s something new and fresh about a birthday. tomorrow i’m celebrating with my family at julian’s and am really hoping for a little bit of relaxation… and perhaps some strong coffee. see you on the other side!

chambray is the fabric that holds my closet together. it’s perhaps even more perfect than cotton itself. i remember the first time i wore it, i had no idea what i was doing and was extremely hesitant in the first place. fast forward two and a half years and i wear it multiple times in any given week! the denim shirts that we know today are quite different from the way cowboys used to style them and as you may notice, they come in a whole range of colors, styles, and patterns. this singular piece has the power to completely transform your wardrobe in an instant. given the proper wash and cut, it’s also the perfect neutral for any ensemble.
]]>i love this movie. really, i do. i picked up in cold blood on a whim and instantly fell in love. the film illustrates capote’s trying experience while investigating the clutter murders in kansas. as you can probably glean from this post, i was quite taken with the costuming, more specifically, the glasses. the story begins in 1959 and depicts possibly my favorite style of dressing, see intelligentsia meets old school literati. it was a pretty great moment for style, no?

75 degrees and sunny with little to no humidity, that’s my idea of a perfect day. that may be too much to ask for someone who lives in new england but i can dream can’t i? this is just my kind of ensemble for a day spent strolling main street in northampton, poking into stores like essentials and pinch, grabbing lunch at sylvester’s or the green bean, and people watching from sip’s vantage point. it’s such a funky, little town where everyone can do what they want and wear what they want without feeling out of place. i’ll certainly miss days like these but can’t wait to come back for visits once i’ve graduated.

i’m ashamed that i’ve been completely lacking in what i post to this section, sorry. luckily i have a great restaurant to share with you this time and hopefully next time i’m home i’ll write up a few more! the grange, which opened several weeks ago in providence’s west side, is absolutely perfect. the decor insists a vibe just like relaxing at the home of an old friend. that is if you have a friend who knows how to seamlessly decorate with reclaimed pieces and doesn’t seem at all pretentious. and the food! who could forget the food? i like to think of their menu as select, not small. my mom and i ate from the day menu, which is comprised of lovely brunch-y options such as: tofu breakfast tacos, poached fruit with yogurt, and a soup du jour (mine was lentil mushroom). after the meal we stopped by the coffee window where i indulged in an artfully brewed soy latte and oh it was good. this nook is positively adorable as you can either access it by crossing the dinning room or from the side entrance if you’re just stopping by. one last thing… the staff was very friendly, which isn’t something you typically get with these sorts of places, just saying.
